Casino Poker Players

In casino poker, anything can happen. Card tables can seat quite a few players and each of them has the potential to be a wild card. In a game as jargon-filled as poker, it’s natural that there are a lot of slang words that are used frequently to describe standout players. These generalizations are sometimes unfairly applied, but they’re commonly used in games to help players understand each player seated around the casino poker table and his playing style.

The sharpest tack at the table is gifted with the nickname card shark. This term is one of many that has been made popular in poker cinema and pop culture. A card shark is someone who plays the game extremely well, is able to read and understand other players, and executes a particular strategy flawlessly.

A rock is a player who only plays the best hands in a casino poker game. Rocks are players who frequently fold their first two dealt cards without even putting down a bet or waiting for the Flop to drop. Their philosophy: Why play anything less than excellent?

On the other end of the casino poker scale are the less cool players. If a player goes on tilt, he is said to have lost his rationale, meaning that he plays erratically.

All players have met a maniac at one point in their playing careers. This annoying type of player often shows up in free online poker games, playing aggressively and raising irrationally, often without good reason.
